@bronxboy47 No.... You are definitely not alone. It shows that you are a feeling person.

@DanceDJ1979 Thank you for responding. It's so awesome and exciting, actually that someone "out there" communicates--yet on the same wavelength... The wonder of computers! Check out "Bird of Paradise" with Louie Jourdan and Debra Paget. ANOTHER WOW!!! unforgettable.... 1951 was the movie, the year that I was born. oops....take care

@zimjun7 I remember I was 10 years old when I saw this at a Saturday afternoon matinee at the theater in my home town. I was by myself and can remember being so sad too, thinking that love would be an undying thing when I grew up. It has stayed in my memory all my life. The movie is unavailable anywhere but was on Turner Classic Movies of the Fox Movie Channel last summer, so hopefully it will be released again. Thanks for sharing your story about it.

@DanceDJ1979 I don't know HOW I came across this, BUT, I too remember this movie. I saw it on television. I was about 11, I think in 1962. I never forgot it. Lorne Greene had to practically "jack" Robert Stack off the ground by the graveside with a 5 day beard growing. That's how I always felt love would be like. Undying. I was in a sad daze for days!! So sad.....

This was the song that inspired me growing up in the late fifties. His delivery is brilliant! Simply amazing! Thanks for sharing.

To Bronxboy47, "Separate Tables" is one of my favorite songs. I saw the movie too ages ago. I remember Vic D singing the title song while someone was setting a long table for dinner. You should listen to "The Shinning Sea" from the movie "The Russians Are Coming". If I ever get to heaven when I die,I hope the angels can sing like Vic Damone!

Vic Damone's "Separate Tables" (from the movie of the same name) is also one of my all-time favorites.

@bronxboy47 It's one of those songs that just has such meaning and especially when you see the film and story behind it. I'm glad I was not alone in remember it too!

I too saw this movie as a ten year old in 1958 and never forgot the song or the movie. Nice to see I wasn't alone.

@stephenbiboy
Vic had a very romantic voice just made for this type of song. But he was not very versatile. Vic and Frankie Laine came up at the same time at Mercury Records. Vic was given the Romantic Ballads and Frankie did everything else plus his share of love songs.

I think the reason this wasn't the hit that "affair to remember" was, was because as many people didn't go to see this movie. It was the introductiion song to the movie starring Robert Stack and Lauren Bacall.

I saw the movie and thought it was better that
"Affair". Through I was never a big fan of Vic's on this type of song he had few equals.
