Popeye, the black cleft palate Pug puppy, is a 3-week-old premie with a physical maturity of 2 weeks. This video shows him seeing his little premie sister for the first time since birth. She is physically normal other than mild hydrocephalus, which most Pug puppies have at birth. The second fawn big sister is from the same litter but is considered more of a normal size at about 9 ounces. Out of eight puppies, four were premies, four were normally sized, and one passed away at birth. I took Popeye into my home to raise as an orphan since he could not nurse. I have been tube feeding him every two hours for the last three weeks. As you can see, he is still slightly smaller than his sister and he has been much slower to develop the ability to walk due to not having other puppies to nudge him. Pugs have naturally big heads so this impedes their progress during the first couple weeks. I have been fund raising for Popeye's reconstructive surgery to be done at 10 weeks. We hope it will not be over $50 to fix the hair lip and cleft palate. Cleft palate puppies are so worth saving. It just takes a volunteer and lots of time to give them love and attention. I was given Popeye to care for at 24 hours old since the breeder has a full time job and is not able to get up every 2 hours during the night to feed him and her vet said to euthanize him. The premie sister is getting breast milk
@alphahawttie91 Step back, take a breath. You've obviously never bred dogs in your entire life. So before you start chewing someone's head off because the carpet has a few messes, most likely caused by the puppies, reflect on how retarded you look when you start claiming someone is abusing their animals. You clearly have no idea how bad animal abuse is compared to this. So please, STFU.

Actually, there is no such thing as premature puppies : they would not be able to live. If they were not stillborn, then they're not premies. Just smaller puppies.
