This video is something a little different, & was a rare chance to take the camera's onto & across Ribblehead Viaduct. The railway line is the famous Settle to Carlisle main line, which runs through Britain's back bone the Pennine Hills. The Viaduct is also one of the famous land marks of this line & the Yorkshire Dales. It took according to our guide around 6 years in some the worst winter weather seen, to be built. The viaduct is:
104 ft. high
440 yds. long
24 arches
Built 1870-1875
The weather up here can be pretty dire at times, for live weather conditions at this location see this link:

I'd like to thank the Settle Carlisle trust for organising this event. A great but very wet day.

@basfordhall It was good walk, if a bit on the old wet side. As far as we know, it may be the last one for a good while to come?? Check the friends of the S&C website for more details.Regards.

Great video. I wonder if that viaduct was built with todays technology how much it would cost. £50million?

Its a great place, but take it from me, it isn't any fun walking from Ribblehead Station to Blea Moor tunnel in the winter... Cold just isn't the right word...
