I explain why it is potentially dangerous to use teflon pots and pans in your home. I talk about the various chemicals that are in Teflon that is made by DuPont. I explain how toxic fumes can be emitted from teflon when heated above the safe limit. People and animals can have breathing problems associated with the fumes and it could cause your pet birds to die.

Scraping the bottom of a telon pot could be looking for trouble if the teflon starts to get old and fall off into your food. Never use any hard abrasive material to clean teflon or use anything metal to scrape food out since it will remove bits and pieces of teflon and it could end up in your food and in your stomach.

Stainless steel is the best alternative to teflon and if used properly will yield great results without all that sticking you get with traditional pots and pans.

This is something that kids need to be aware of as well as parents and other family members.
