@Netwriter No, no. I will admit that I am not certain as to whether or not that was the literal belief, but either way is fine. My comment is not the best, after re-reading it. Perhaps a more appropriate response would have been that most Christians do not hold the Bible as being scientifically accurate, especially in cases such as these (if this was the literal view), and accuracy in these cases is not needed. To explain why, I'd need more space to write. But there you are!

This is being taken out of context. Clearly, the people of this time had no notion of the earth's axis and did not understand its position in space or even how it worked. Both verses are actually from poems/songs of worship to God, and their purpose was to glorify God and his creation and the world he has made. Interpreting it so literally is folly, especially because they are poems, which often employ literary devices.

@Mikeykickdeball Until the last couple hundred years the interpretation I take on these verses is the same one the church held. Any interpretation other than a literal one, held for centuries, by the church, is based on science not the reading of the verses.

I never dreamed I would finally get to call out bullshit! To someone quoting the bible. This passage says nothing about heaven moving or not.It's about Earth An all knowing god could get the way the universe works right in his own special book.
