The E60 (new) couldn't have it in M-mode. Otherwise the E39 (old) is modified.

@WakeupFreedom I should know, I've owned an SMG. However, I was simply saying that without launch control, a car without a clutch pedal will never be able to get off the line faster than one with a clutch pedal. I didn't say anything about SMG because I wasn't trying to argue if SMG is better than manual or not, because it's a matter of personal opinion.

@13MPWR13 It's not an Auto it's called SMG. If you don't know you shouldn't comment. The SMG will smoke any manual, go ahead argue all you want already proven over and over and F10 double clutch will be even faster the driver sucked!

I agrre with your thinking mate, but you got to understand that e 39 has manual transmission and e60 all automatic :) but we know wich one is faster and better car :)

Assuming the E60 setup was 400hp, both these gens have 400hp. This is very telling that the E60 did POORLY compared with its predecessor in acceleration. The E39 4.9L V8 engine peak torque is 369 lb/ft @ 3900rpm and the E60's 5.0L V10, 382 @ 6100. So, the E60 might be weaker at lower rpm than the E39. Also, the E60 is heavier than the E39 due to stricter safety standards. It looks like we're going BACKWARDS!!
