Me talking about Iain Banks' novel "The Crow Road". An unusual book. Well written and with great characterization.

  • I definitely want to recommend A Song of Stone to you, it's quite a finely crafted piece of literature written in a very peculiar style. It's cast of characters and their actions constantly had me wanting to shut the book and run into another room, covering my eyes and trying to get my mind off the inevitable STRANGENESS.

would inadvertently share a kiss or a romantic moment --- I would run out of the room unable to contain my glee. Of course, the novel's effect was not due to delight but more to the effect of wanting to shut my eyes away from the inevitable torch that would be shining in the depth of despicable human character presented therein. A finely crafted novel, with ideas that would be difficult to paraphrase but certainly transcending existential critique.
