Christmas Midnight Mass 2009 at St Leonard's, Streatham

St Leonard's has a very long history, both as a church and previously as a site of worship.

The church itself has seen celebrations of well over a thousand Christmases.

Revd W Godfrey Bell wrote in his 1916 history of St Leonard's that 'from the 7th Century Streatham has been continuously the recipient of the ministrations of the Christian Church'.

He also wrote, of the Romans in Streatham in the Third Century AD, that 'Streatham would be one of the first places in the country in which the name of Christ would be heard'.
