the title refers to the fact that during the late 1970s and early 80s now pointless right wing groups would use discos and dance halls in the hope of recruiting supporters, as for "england for the english" it means england for the white english england for the black english england for the people who live here its not an anthem for the nazis as some of you would like to think its not a racist song at all.in any case morrissey is god!!!!!

It is well known that Morrissey has dabbles with right-wing views and he has the balls to put them into his songs. The song is not some anti-nationalist/socialist rant. It is a song about how a lot of people feel about the influx of immigrants into England!

The people claiming this song as some kind of 'romper stomper' anthem are so astonishingly stupid. The quote below is taken from an interview that Morrissey claims distorted his words and views. Morrissey's relationship to Englishness and the working class is not straightforward. As 2nd generation Irish born in Manchester, he is at once English and Irish, and at the same time neither, something which is reflected in his music...where he also criticises and rejects aspects of working class life.

The National Front in Britain was used skillfully by the Conservatives and Thatcher to cement her position in power. See it happening now in France with their National Front and Sarkozy's position. Hegelian dialectic at work. This is a great song, regardless of the politics.

cool piano in this version

Great song - Morrissey dares while others mumble somethng in the background. Morrissey understands the working-class not because he comes from the working-class, but because he never left them. Unlike... have you got all day?
