When I was 9 i broke my leg and was in this hospital for 6 weeks. I would look out of the big window shown and watch my parents travelling on bus routes below. Visiting hours were twice a week. At one time the Health Authority used it for offices. It has now been closed in favour of the University Hospital, (one of the largest hospitals in Europe)in Euston Road and nothing seems to be going on on the site. It looks as if it is ready to be demolished. Does anyone have any information about plans for this site?

  • It has not changed since this film was taken. This building has so much character ,just hope they don't demolish it!

  • @blackpopepaul It does seem a pity that it has been left so deserted for such a long time. One would like something to be done with it rather than it being totally boarded up. Perhaps it could be sold off to the hotel on the left hand of it and used as an extension. On the right hand side of it is the building that started off as a workhouse and is still in use, for what I know not. However, it would be good to see it used.

  • I go past it everyday and it's just sad to see the hospital lifeless. Apparently it was suppose to be demolished but there haven't been any significant changes.

  • @ladymusiclover As you say - just sad. Surely they can use it for something can't they? I think it was a drug dependancy clinic on the ground floor. But use it for something. Perhaps there are ;conditions' set down from when it was a Work House. (See the next building to it and above the door you will see the details of 'Workhouse' there.

But the now that UCH is just down the road and the largest hospital in Europe then they don't actually need this building.

  • @JackBarnett21 I think that's the main reason it shut down due the UCH. Hopefully, they'll do something with the building.

  • I'd love to know what they plan to do with it too, I pass it daily on the bus and it is a great shame that it isn't used.
