Ultimately this country will be of no good to those who are storming our borders. For the America that they inherit will not longer possess that essence which made our country great to begin with.

The topic of this debate can be whatever, but what matters is what the reall issue is going to be with the wall. Xenophobia is the only issue surrounding the wall, all other excuses such as security, terrorism, etc. lack foundation. For ex. terrosits enter the US legally from other countries, they are not interested in entering illegally trhough the mexican border when they can enter legally from somewhere else.

The topic here really is that the construction of the wall is really only going to be a zenophobic icon, the american govt. may as well build a giant hand sticking its middle finger aiming at all of latin america. The wall will not be a "barrier" to stop illegal immigration as its advocates behemently argue. It will not be its main function anyways. These guys in favor of the wall go off on a tangent arguing irrelevant and hypocritical issues.

No, the topic was whether the wall would be effective or not. Xenophobia is a related issue, as well as security, terrorism, the economy and immigration (obviously). Xenophobia is at the core of the debate only if you want it to be. Like most other controversial topics, the border wall is a multi-faceted one with many issues, xenophobia being just one of them, and not any more or less important than the others.
