Umm.. The Phantom of the Opera? Jekyll & Hyde? Rocky Horror Show?
On Off-Broadway we have Bat Boy, Evil Dead: The Musical..
Tanz der Vampire in Europe?
And Carrie isn't really horror, it's more like a thriller with supernatural themes.

Um, this is based off of a horror novel, right? I thought that the song was okay (or at least what I heard) but it seems very out of place here. Yeah, just leave broadway horror to Sweeney Todd and Little Shop of Horrors and don't do anymore musicals based off of horror movies/novels because I think whatever is left of my sanity will probably be detroyed if they made one based off of something like Freddy Vs. Jason.

Really? Carrie The Musical? Legally Blonde The Musical was even better than the movie, regardless, a horror movie a steven king movie turned into a musical? A play is one thing, a musical is a whole different ball park.

Well it is a funny story, now I realize I should've known better, since I make props for a theater.

@wickedfeylady: Don't believe everything you read. This silly "Grease/Greece" apocrypha gets repeated a lot, and it makes a cute swipe at the misguided designs. But such a simple mis-hearing would've had ample opportunity to get cleared up long, long before arriving onstage. Costing what they do, stage sets and costumes are not something you just "order up" with a single phone call and then wait for the trucks to arrive. No, I'm afraid these unfortunate choices were entirely deliberate.

The way Carrie dances is absolute crap. The choreography for this entire show is so incredibly overdone...it undercuts any good acting being done, as well as some very good singing to mediocre-at-best lyrics. Also, the style of song doesn't even nearly fit!!! How's a not-that-street-smart podunk-town teacher who can't even prevent completely foreseeable bullying supposed to be realistic singing an over-romanticized, pretentiously worldly wise yet unrelentingly bubble-gum-optimism song?

@rubino83 Um...no they aren't.

To use a famed internet meme to describe their attempts at belting: "ur doin it wrong"

My mum told me this -she read it in the paper- that one of the women producing the show had produced the musical "Grease", and she said to the production team for Carrie, "I see the high school as a scene from Grease." Well, they misunderstood...and put everyone in GREEK flowing togas. Brilliantly EPIC FAIL
