Tree Planting in Manitoba - 2008

Good day and welcome to Manitoba!

For the last three years I've spent three months of each summer planting trees for Outland Reforestation in Manitoba, Canada.

I decided this year that I would make a compilation of the season. It's easier to show people what I'm doing, rather than try to explain it all the time.

The main focus of this video is transportation, and planting. All of the vehicles we use to get in and out of work are in here, except the swamp machine, which doesn't move planters anymore; only trees. And before you start asking questions, the big orange thing is called a "Rollagon".

I want to especially thank Gero for letting me use the final clip in this movie. I hope you all enjoy it!

We had two Rollies. One was missing third gear, and the other had no Synchro on the gears so it was very much a 'If you can't find em, grind em' mindset with that one.

This WAS the best contract in tree planting... then Outland bought out Waughs Woods in 2001 and ruined it with their Walmart ways. None of you kids will ever know what a real great planting contract is.

@tophergrallison 3500$/2 months on average.. some make less some make more.. you wont make anything in the beginning.. and many poeple quit thinking they never will.. but hang on and you'll make a load in your last 2 weeks... It all depends on how hard your willing to push yourself... I was desperate for money.. and in my second contract of my first year I made 5 grand in 18 working days...

I know that it's per tree,and I know the Manitoba jobs are mostly for experienced planters. But I can't seem to get a straight answer; how much can a first season planter hope to make?

Also, for your next vid, if you can it would be neat to see the living areas and what you do during down time, and it would be expecally cool if we can hear what some of your coworkers have to say.
