I am a complete newbie looking to buy a knitting machine, up till this point i have only handknitted. how does a punchcard work? thanks!

@ElanTamara
The punchcard selects which needles will pattern, be it fair isle, tuck, slip, lace or weaving. On a standard gauge they are usually 24sts wide and the pattern on them will repeat across the needlebed.

@136Janie
I don't remember if I sent you a reply but all I can suggest is to make sure there is no slack in your yarn before knitting the row.

what kind of machine do you have that you can attach the knit radar to, I bought one on ebay and it won't fit my brother machine, or do you have any idea and any other machine that the radar would fit, I love your videos and I'm learning by them, Thank You, Vicky of USA Highland, Il

KR6 and KR7 Knit Radars are for Knitmaster or Silver Reed machines - they won't work with Brother machines.
There may be a similar accessory for Brother machines but as I'm not familiar with that brand I can't tell you what it's called.
