Is America Babylon?

Who is Mystery Babylon, as mentioned in Revelation 17 ... is it referring to America? Alan says, "No," and explains why.

And yet America is greatest of all in bring about the filth in the culture, like the idol worship of sports players. Yes i think Babylon is the awful culture that exist now! Satan is it's leader. Spiritual Babylon is what we are to avoid!!!! As for physical Babylon we know where it is, so that's no mystery. Amen Brother

There is divine revelation (interpretation) of prophecies, for example, Jesus was called Immanuel, in Isa 7:14

And Matthew 1:22-23 clearly interpreted this passage as applying to Jesus.

So was the literal name of Messiah, Immanuel, "God with Us", or was it the meaning (that Jesus is the Word in flesh) which is the revelation?

Every prophecy must be interpreted in the meaning that God has assigned, but it still must be interpreted by revelation. So America may well be MYSTERY BABYLON!

To me, the greatest Revelation in the book is the warning of what the Antichrist will bring, The Mark ! here is why, it , the mark, will be a major sign to those of us that are IN Christ Jesus and undeniable to those will are still on the planet when it is about to be forced on them. As we see with all of our new found technology, it is now possible, on top of that fact is this, Jesus warned us about the love of money, and in James chp. 5, we see another prophesy unfolding even now, bless you

Very good video Alan..We should remember not to harp on things we are not ready to know..Maybe we should ask first, What is Mystery Babylon? I too often get caught up in the FEAR and you made a great point about Satan already being defeated. God Bless Brother : )

I think you're right, Alan. As good an example as America is of Babylon, I would say it's more likely to be the world at large. Your closing comment about keeping a proper perspective based on the victory of Christ over Satan is well made. I've been chastised lately for engaging in pointless debates with others about various doctrinal matters that just don't matter. The problem, of course, is that such activities only *compete* with the Good News and distract us from reaching those He came for.
