It's like they had three or four bits of music and a bunch of lyrics that they couldn't quite expand into full-length songs, so they just glued them together and called that a song. And it works because they're TMBG.

I can enjoy the song without knowing the meaning, but it's always fun for some people (including me) to go a little deeper and try to unravel the deep meanings they were thinking of when they wrote it.
