A good song but an obvious "Heat Wave" imitation.

OK, thanks ! That "Popeye" dance was by
the Sherrys. Will try to find where you told me to look. MOST appreciated!! I always thought The Orlons did it because it sounded so much like them.

sqtlzy: Found it. It's from 1962 by the girl group the Sherrys. Guyden label. The limited history I have is it was #1 in November of '62. It might be on Napster (I don't have an acct anymore) or Limewire (which I'm afraid to use) if you have it.

Maybe it will come to me -- I had that record and even remember what the label looked like, but don't remember the artist right now. Now you've got me running the song through my head! Will write back if and when it comes to me.

It was a hit for Chubby Checker who also recorded for Cameo/Parkway on the Parkway label.

Who had the hit with "The Popeye"
(early 60s)...?? It started like, "Pop-
pop-popeye...it's the dance of the day..."
Thanks!

Or the original: Specials - Hey Little Rich Girl.
