Demonstrating the tone of my Gibson SG Standard through my Peavey Classic 30 with Eminence Texas Heat speaker. I'm boosting with an Ibanez TS-808.

  • do u recommend the texas heat in the classic 30?

  • @SSol28 Ya know..... I hate to say it.... but after I installed the Texas Heat, it didn't really sound much different. I'm finding that a graphic EQ in the effects loop gives far more tonal improvement than a speaker change. Although I might put a Celestion Vintage 30 in there sometime.

  • @dcooper830 Did you ever put that Celestion in?

  • @Smyliemyles Yes I did install the Celestion Vintage 30 and I'm much much happier!! It made a huge difference for me on the overdrive tones. The highs are much crisper and pleasant.

Clean tones are still great like they always were. The biggest improvement is on the high gain tones. I was really amazed at the difference.

  • so dc, how do you like that sg?

  • @lordkram I absolutely love it. I ordered it sight unseen from Musicians Friend and it couldn't have been more perfect. Straight neck with nice low action and no fret buzz. Wood grain looks beautiful. And the nitro smells wonderful! Nice new Gibson smell!

  • I've got 4 Texas Heats in my live rig and I LOVE them! My rig is a POD 2.0 into a Rocktron Velocity 150 power amp, then into 2 2x12 cabs in stereo, with Gibson Les Paul Studio in front. Don't scoff! I ALWAYS get other guitarists asking me how I get my tone, because they can't see an amp head on the stage, just the cabs. They usually can't believe it when I show them my rig! I love the Peavey Classic 30 too, one of my favorite amps. Great playing man, and great tone!

  • really great guitar playing
