learn at a OPEN PARKING LOT. that is one of the worse places to learn . "in a tight spot".

I really don't understand how it is possible that any man (I'd doubt the fact he is a man... lookin' at his hairstyle, let him go to DOWN concert, Phil Anselmo would teach him a lesson called "How to be a man") can have problems with manual transmission... I just can't stand it. I knew how to use it when I was 11 or 12 years old. I'm not an american-boy and that's the point I think. Greetings from Poland.

@element509 You're assuming "learning to drive a vehicle" automatically equals "learning to maneuver said vehicle in traffic from the get go". That's a faulty assumption, no thanks to your short-cut-taking parents. Phase 1 Objective is Vehicular Control --- in a Controlled Environment WITHOUT the distraction of other vehicular traffic. Only when you have been proven able to safely control the car (& pedals) at ALL times, without a second thought, should you venture out into traffic for Phase 2.
