These videos are from the Phillipines but I'm sure such nonsense occurs in China as well.

It's big in South America too. The U.S. Even Great Britain where you'd expect people to have more sense and dignity.

People are so desperate to believe that God is not silent, distant, i.e. dead, that they're open to suggestion and willing to believe emotionalism means "God is alive and active among his people."

At least that's my opinion based on experience and observation.

I'm sad to say that this idiocy is one reason I lost my faith. I was lured from "dead" churches by the claims that Charismatics practice the gifts of the spirit exactly like the early church.

When I finally realized spiritual gifts are just products of peer pressure, emotion, & placebo, I realized the early church was probably the same. Jesus said (supposedly) his followers would do greater works than he did. They don't.

I hope you find a good church. It's devastating to lose one's religion.

@reti123 Hey! Reti-- there is a line of christianity that believes the practice of most of the spiritual gifts ceased with the death of the apostles and completion of the bible!

- tongues cease.. gift of miracles cease.. ministry gifts cease.. when 'that which is perfect' or 'the perfect thing' has come.. now this is referring to something complete that was incomplete. Only thing that could be is the bible!

So if you did go back in time you would find the apostles and others practising gifts.

In fact the bible tells that the next time you see signs and wonders etc.. it'll be from a pure evil source!

While I believe in the supernatural, I don't know if everything supernatural is from God. One should use discernment. I believe it is in 1 John where we are told to test the spirits, to see if they are of God.
