@brndo115 Oh if you put it this way then you're right. I don't read stupid comments, usually. In absolute terms a bigger, heavier car is safer than a smaller, lighter one. But in relative terms (crashing with a wall or somebody big and heavy like you, being "you" a certain tipe of car) the Merc is of course a lot safer than the Ford. Your car knowledge gotta be very poor to say the opposite -.-

@Mawerik024 , the crash itself could very well easily happen in real life, so of course I can't say that would be unfair.
But the fact that so many people are concluding from this video that Mercedes are overrated, overpriced, unsafe cars is what bugs me. Im just trying to remind misguided people that it's a truck vs. a car and that the truck's toughest part (the front frame) is hitting the Benz's weakest part

@brndo115 When a SUV is about to crash I don't think the driver's gonna say "wait a minute.. This way I'm gonna hit the Geo Metro head on and that's very unfair.. Gonna go for the truck".
How can a car crash be fair?

is it fair in a real situation? It happen when it happen - life is never fair!

@TheEuroperules I don't understand, obviously the ford was damaged in the front.. A few years ago, my mother was driving home from a friends house at about 10:00 p.m., while crossing an intersection she was hit on the driver side at about 40 MPH by a drunk driver, she was driving her summer car a 2001 E420, she walked away with a fractured elbow, the paramedics said if she wasn't driving that car, she would have died. Soon after she replaced it with a 2006 E420. You say Mercedes is over-priced.

the dummies in the ford hit the steering wheel.... that would hurt

This test is not very accurate at all in today's world. The is like a 1999 Mercedes. Rerun this crash with a 2012 Mercedes and a 2012 Explorer and I bet it would be a much better outcome.

Very disapointing of the mercedes the airbags are doesn't seem to helpat all
-
@halfwit134 It doesnt need them. The ford is untouched unlike the overpirced mercedez.

USA > germany . USA POWA overpriced NAZIS !!!! LOL
@tiggetigge The side of any vehicle is ALOT weaker and less likely to with stand an impact, rather than in the front, or rear. I bet the ford did not have side airbags though, unlike the Mercedes.

This test just doesnt seem fair. First; it's an SUV vs a midsize car. Second; we have the strongest part of the Explorer impacting the weakest part of the Benz (the passenger windows). The curtain airbags on the Merc didnt perform too well (what do you expect? This was one of the first cars to actually offer them) but it is still a safe car with a very soild & rigid structure and this flawed test does nothing to disprove that. Next time crash a Taurus into the E320
