I have published several books using Createspace and highly recommend them! Not only do you get low costs, decent royalties, but you also get your book on Amazon.com usually within 7 days.

To get started, download my free book template (8.5 x 5.5) here: http://www.self-publishing-coach.com/newsletter.html

  • my book has some colored pictures do I have to choose the color Interior type or can I do the black and white?

  • @hoogys You can choose either. If you choose black and white, I recommend converting the pictures to black and white 300dpi prior to printing. And then always get a proof to make sure it's what you want prior to publishing. I have some black and white pictures in mine and they turned out fine. ~Shelley~

  • Yes you can do TONS of stuff with Adobe Photoshop Elements. Bill Myers has some great tutorials on it. You can search YouTube for "remove background from images bill myers" and you'll find two great videos!

  • i have a question if my book is licensed as Creative Commons, will Amazon accept my book or not?

  • @chadouthieves I recommend reading the member agreement in detail when you sign up for Createspace. If you own the rights to your book, you should be able to publish it on Amazon. You can also ask questions at Createspace community forums as well as contact their support with any of your questions. Thanks! ~Shelley~

  • Part 2 of my questions (because i was running out of space in my first comment)

Note that i will be using phtoshop to make my cover image and the cover itself.

3.How do i get the backcover onto my story.

    4. what are createspace's requirements for publishing books.

  • @Videowatcher198 Yes, you upload the cover and the interior file for your book separately. Createspace has great support staff and forums that you can contact if you have specific questions. You can read my article on book cover design. I can't post links in the comments here, but will send you a message with the link. ~Shelley~

  • Thanks for putting together this tutorial. It helped me to really appreciate Createspace. I am usually publish with Lulu, but for certain works I believe Createspace with the best POD venue.

  • For the past few weeks, i've been asking alot of questions about adobe photoshop elements 9, i might order it off of amazon in a very short time but before i buy it, i wish to know if it's the right software to make my book and ebook covers.

I've gotten alot of yes's regarding my questions on whether or not i can remove background from images of things i intend to use for my covers and typing words, but i'm asking here just to be sure.

  • I just completed the editing process on my first fictional story that i intend to publish as an ebook on amazon first, and then i will make a printed version through create space.

I do have some questions about making a printed version on createspace,1. Do you upload your cover image and the story itself seperately like you do when your posting your ebook.2. I know that i will need a backcover for the printed version and i wish to know how to make one.
