THIS VIDEO SHOULD "prove" NOTHING
...and...think...its even 60 years ago....

(more brightness as inside the original footages)

The Northrop SM-62 Snark was a specialized interc. cruise missile with a nuclear warhead...

Unfortunately for fans of the Snark,
ballistic missile technology advanced
rapidly. Both the Atlas and Titan
ICBMs went operational in the early
1960s, and the Snark was deactivated
soon thereafter. Though the
program has been dead for four decades,
one Snark, at least, lives on as
a little Cold War mystery...

OF course...THEY didnt optimized it...lol...

  • thumbs up if you thought it was gonna be video about the snark creature in Half-Life.

  • @Jospehporta There's no fantasizing here. The Navaho was rejected because of a political decision, not because of technical difficulties... The Tomahawk IS VERY ACCURATE & IT DOES HAVE conventional warheads. These are all facts vs ur usual trolling...

"Also what good is a conventional warhead when accuracy sucked" I really had a good laugh at this one, LOL. U don't know anything abt the Tomahawk. Ore anything else 4 that mater. All u do is trolling...

  • @Jospehporta & usual bashing, without actually knowing anything abt the vid topic, or even carrying about it. All u care avt is 2 troll & bash, with no support, of course... Now 2 mention that u stalk me on every vid I post comments on, just like u did with this one, doing nothing but throwing ur usual trolling and spams...

  • @Jospehporta Of course, just as usual, u never provide any link, & only talk uninformed BS... U have no idea what "detecting a missile's launch" means... A cruise missile's launch is much harder to detect than a ballistic missile's... & the Navajo was developed during the '50s, not '70s/'80s... But by the '70s/'80s, if such missiles would've been allowed 2 evolve, they would've never been detected. Small RCS combined with RAMs would've assured that. But as usual, all u do is throwing ur trolling

  • @Jospehporta Trolling again I see... The Tomahawk has an excellent accuracy and it DOES have conventional warheads... The Gryphon (which u never heard abt until now) was basically a Tomahawk, only that was launched from ground launchers, But it was essentially the same missile...

  • @artwleb GLCM in the ground forces inventory. They should've equipped it with a conventional warheads, just like the Tomahawk & give it 2 the ground forces. This would given the ground forces 2 perform deep strikes in the enemy territory, much deeper than the ship launched Tomahawks. Supersonic versions should've also been produced. They would've had a smaller range, but they would've been much harder 2 intercept due 2 their high speed. The Russians did this with their Klub missile system.

  • @artwleb revolutionary feature at the time Navaho was developed. The Navaho should've been adopted. Just like the XB-70 Valkyrie bomber.

As 4 the Regulus, that missile could only be launched from the surface & that was a big disadvantage. But I believe the sub launched long range cruise missiles should've been developed 4 the same reason I mentioned above: cruise missiles' launches can't be detected.

The US, right now, only has ship launched cruise missiles, but they should've kept the Gryphon

  • @artwleb If u read abt Navaho, u will see that it incorporated features & technologies far ahead its time. just like everything North American Aviation did during the '50s. It could fly at over mach 3 & there's no doubt that they could've make it fly at even higher speeds, making it more difficult 2 intercept. The latest model, which was planned as the model that would've been adopted & was larger than the other 2, would've also incorporated TVC on the rocket propeller. That was a truly a

  • @StiviGun1 Actually the Snark was operational very briefly. Navaho only did 4 R&D flights before being cancelled and a total of 11 flights f(7 for high speed research). Snark and Navaho were designed to fly from USA

while today's shorter range cruise missiles are launched from ships. Another cruise missile cancelled in 1959 was the supersonic Regulus II due budgets and the arrival of Polaris.

  • The Snark may have been a failure, but the Navaho wasn't. It should've been adopted to be used in conjunction with the ICBMs. Cruise missiles have the advantage of being able to be launched undetected and remain undetected during flight as well. The ICBMs can be detected even from their first stage of flight. They were stupid to cancel the Navaho. This also gave a hard blow to the best US aircraft designer, the North American Aviation.
