This is a short clip I put together for a clinic in our area on how to use a "ballast machine" written up in Model Railroader magazine. Music is "Skateboard" by Manheim Steamroller.

I'm trying to find a copy of July 1978 Model Railroader magazine where the article was published so I can upload it. The amount of suction is controlled by a couple holes in the tube and covering them with your fingers, or by simply tilting the suction head on the rails.

how do you make the vaccuum machine and what keeps the ballst from going on through the container and into the vaccum itself?

or can you just explain how it works what do you suck in on one hose and then it makes a vacuum in the jar and when u run the other end over the ballast it is drown up into the jar ...you can send ur comments to my e mail morettibrian @yahoo.com
