We would put the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic up against anyone's small compact. With a ride engineered from the guys who brought the new Corvette, this car has some serious get up and go. It has more horsepower than the competition and one of the most enjoyable suspensions we've experienced in a car this inexpensive. The steering is light and communicates road feel extremely well, but still maintains a luxurious isolation from the road!! The Ford Fiesta can't beat the horsepower or driving dynamics. The Nissan Versa can't compete in quality of materials. The Honda Fit can't compete in standard and available equipment.
Which reminds us...the Chevrolet Sonic has tons of standard equipment and options that aren't offered on the competition. Remote Start is available--again, remote start is available on an economy, efficiency car!! Gone are the days when you didn't even get power locks or a key fob. The Aveo is gone, and Chevrolet is rolling out high-tech in every vehicle.
Come on into Joe Van Horn Chevrolet in Plymouth, WI. We serve Sheboygan county, Wisconsin, and all 50 states and know that the Internet is the way to shop for cars. We will work to earn your business, because we know that we have to stand out in the thousands of choices you have.

  • could you explain that transmission some more. Is it like a semi-manual option?

  • @aukent Depending on what model. The hatch back LS, LT, and LTZ are all automatic as well as the sedan LS, LTZ. The only manual transmission is the sedan LT.

  • @aukent If I am reading your question correctly, you are asking about the manual shift option? The automatic transmission comes with manual shifting option. You can either put the vehicle into D (or Drive), or M (Manual mode). Manual mode is still somewhat controlled by the automatic side of the transmission, but if you practice a little, you can be making pretty much all of the shifting by yourself.

  • @joevanhornchev the funny thing is that i just picked up a sonic yesterday! its an LT summit white hatchback automatic.. i love it!

  • @aukent Sounds somewhat familiar....well, at least you had a very comprehensive preview of your exact model :)

  • @aukent Glad that you're enjoying it.

  • Fiesta and Fit have a much more upscale premium interior with consistent plastics, and soft touch surfaces. Particularly the Fiesta really has that solid quality feel to it. Probably because it was designed in Germany.

For everything else mentioned here, kudos to GM for making the car all around competitive. Small segment needs good competition to drive for better products.

  • Best design I've seen from GM in a little bit. I don't know why but I really like those rear door pulls. If these things are still purring along in 5 years, then I'll change my mind about Chevy. But until then, they are majorly suspect as far as reliability goes.

  • @KhyronDesintegrado Thank you.

  • nice review. you listed the features really well
