This is part 2 of the Nikon D7000 Setup series. This video will help you set up and understand the different settings in your Nikon D7000. I walk you through each step of the way while interjecting how I would set up the menu if I owned the camera.

If you missed Part 1 please click here http://froknowsphoto.com/?p=2666
to watch the video that explains all of the buttons and what their functions are.

If you have a Nikon D90 this video will also help you set up your camera as the menu systems are very similar.

  • Jared, I'd reconsider recommending the "overflow" mode for dual slot usage. I always use either backup mode or RAW on 1 / JPEG on 2 because there is always the chance one memory card fails. If you're using "overflow" you'd lose your images in this case. If you use RAW+JPEG with backup mode and one card fails, you won't lose your photos. Like you've said before, memory is cheap. Grab a couple 16GB or 32GB cards and never worry again!

  • @starstryker1 What I use for my d3s is dual redundancy. I have it record raw to slot 1 and 2.

  • Awesome video, have had this camera for a while but you taught me a lot in the last hour, thank you....cheers

  • @JaredPolin Right on. I've lost pics due to card failure, and the dual card capability the main reason why I went to the D7000 from the D5000. I needed the backup in camera so it wouldn't happen again. Thanks for the great vids, btw! You've definitely helped me go from auto to manual.

  • Thanks! i like your t-shirt!

  • Hey Jared. I whatcd both two videos and I just one question. Do you recommend the camera to begginers, who just started taking photoes about a year ago?

  • Hello I'm a little new and I was curious about deleting photos and reformatting the sd card...After I upload the images to Aperture or Lightroom I'm prompted to delete the photos on the card or to keep them, is this doing the something or is reformatting completely different?

    Thank you,

    Grant
