Honestly, this is pretty much my favorite part of the movie..or ONE of my favorite parts anyway...
it's funny because the drug that she is speaking of is actually what is nowadays refurred to as Adderall..the adhd drug..It was called Obetrol,I believe, back then, and it was used as a diet pill...Andy Warhol took it to lose, and maintain his weight and gave it to all of the "factory kids"...only unlike today,OBVIOUSLY instead of taking it orally,it was shot up..and more that frequently abused as a recreational drug.. it's quite interesting, eventually they took it off the market, and then put it back on the market to treat adhd, the drug itself is just a cocktail of amphetamine salts.
Brigid Polk explains it nicely.lmao

  • she is nothing like i imagined her to be at all

  • @lizzilobdob I know what you mean,It was the same with me when I first saw her, ofcoarse,I imagined her as they showed her in the movie factory girl...and quite obviously, the girl they chose to portray her, actually looked nothing like her,&didn't quite seem to have the same personality either, thus I was a bit surprised when I saw the real Brigid Polk.lol

  • i know , same here, i nearly had heart failure when i saw her pmsl

  • lol,yeahh I know the feeling.haha

have you seen what her sister ritchie berlin looks like in real life?

....it's not AS bad,but she doesn't look anything like the girl they chose to be in factory girl.haha

  • yeah seen Richie, that wasn't too bad - but OMG again Brigid looks like some half dressed bag lady , i'm laughing again now ive had to look at it again to reply to you :-D

  • yeah,I think her character in the movie was just a bit more feminine than the real richie is all.

&yeah I know what you mean,

I enjoy how she's just sitting in a bathroom stall rambling on and shooting up,It's such an odd scene.lmao

  • i luv u ms polk!!! she is funny as hell!!!

  • OK so here's to some of the commenters here. You know movies, they are NOTHING about the real world or real people. Factory Girl was a piece of crap, all lies and fiction, like everything else from Hollywood. Entertainment for a brief moment. But it did, however, accomplish one thing: it raised the awareness of the alternative universe that Andy Warhol, his superstars and the musicians around them represented. But as fast as cinema or truth goes, it was nothing at all.

  • while it is accurate to state that Adderall was identical in composition to Obetrol when first marketed in the mid-1990s, it is worth noting that the changes made to the formulation of Obetrol since it was introduced are of significance. There is no drug commercially marketed called Obetrol at this time, nor has there been since Shire acquired Rexar Pharmacal.

  • As disturbing as it is to see a Brigid stick a needle in her ass, she's one amusing person.
