@6810chris - Lyndon Johnson was hardly a friend during this crisis. If you will RECALL, Israel purchased French war jets. It wasn't until after this war that we equipped them so well. Chris, don't look for reasons to down the Israelis. If you knew this history well enough, YES - as I do, you would know how out-numbered they were....and Syria (backed by USSR), Jordan & Egypt pounced on them at once. Are you going to sit there and say that Israel had the biggest advantage??? Ha!!!

Rommel, also called "The Desert Fox"was a German General who fought the Allied Forces in the desert of North Africa in WWII ! He was respected as a brilliant tactical fighter even by our Generals, but also as a man so disgusted by the Nazi Reich,he took part in a plot to kill Hitler, was caught & to protect his family, took his own life.READ

@joltinjack Well, I don't know who you are responding to and what they said, but yes, Israel did stand pretty much alone, and were terribly outnumbered by troops w/antiquated equipment and no skills, they did fight against a 10-1 advantage and inflict like 30-1 casualties, still nothing like the Finns standing up to the USSR, but you have one fact wrong-they weren't "jumped on all at once-they srtuck 1st through the air.

FYI, in Israel today more families are mixed (meaning Yemenites / Mizrahi marry Ashkenazis) than remaining in their own Jewish "tribe". Everyone in Israel gets equal treatment - every Jew, and every Israeli citizen, including Arabs.
