Apologies for the poor sound quality. I don't have a decent microphone, so I just lean into my laptop's internal mike and kind of yell.

It's funny that the Creationist textbook was called "of Pandas and People," seeing as the giant panda is a pretty good example of evolution.

You see, though the giant panda is largely vegetarian, it is classified as a carnivore. It has a digestive system best suited for meat, yet it lives on the bamboo plant, and has flat teeth for plant-eating.

Because the bamboo plant offers so little in the way of nutrition, the giant panda must eat constantly, just to avoid starvation. It can afford to spend very little energy, so it doesn't move around much. In other words, it's about as active as creation science research lab.

Because a panda eats so much, it an unusual quantity of feces.

Why do I bring this up? Well, it comes down to the expression "intelligent design". It's hard to argue that such a creature was designed with anything approaching a degree of intelligence. So, you've got two hypotheses:

Either, (1), the giant panda's ancestors were carnivores, but due to environmental factors the panda had to become dependent on bamboo for sustenance, or

(2) Pandas were designed by an omnipotent dunderhead that *wanted* to create a slow, gluttonous, slothful creature that generates mountains of green poo pellets.
