A simple gun retention technique for Close Quarters Combatives. The attacker grabs your drawing gun arm and prevents you from drawing your gun. What do you do?... This video clip will show you ONE way to deal with this situation. Also, learn how to draw your gun up to 50% faster! http://www.right2defend.com

  • Wouldn't it be easier to just push kick the person than draw your weapon out? Who knows maybe he'll drop the knife and you wont even have to use lethal force anymore. Just a thought. I will try this out though during our next training event and see how this works for us. Thanks

  • @jdmSRT Yes, it is one possibility. I only drew my gun to demonstrate drawing your gun. There are MANY different options. Really, it all depends on what the attacker does, how much energy they give you, etc. Train on it and if you like it great, if not, that's fine too. Cheers.

  • The reason the hand is above the head is because you want to keep your gun hand & your free hand on different planes because if they are close together & he starts cutting it is hard to defend yourself with both of your arms cut. By having one higher & lower you reduce the odds of both your hands becoming injured in one cut.

  • @brian47374 Thank you for your professional response. Will do

  • maybe the crackhead thinks your a piece of toast and he just wants to butter you? lol no but really good info.

  • my 12 year old little bro knows weapon retention's, he can disarm knives, poles, guns e.t.c

  • at this range, my first instinct is hand-to-hand: control the weapon and stun attacker simultaneously, disarm weapon from attacker, and neutralize situation be either restraining attacker or allowing attacker to flee, the former being the preferred action. i strongly suggest learning krav maga. i am in that process.

  • i am not a firearms/CQC expert (and that is why i am posting), but some of these moves are disagreeable to me. For instance, one should have good unarmed fighting skills. If not, than learn unarmed fight skills. The interim period between realization and capable unarmed fighter should be made to be as small as possible. Also, why is the hand up and above the head? I have learned hapkido, aikido, and judo, so MY TRAINING inclines me to place my hand at my chest near my firearm, or thereabouts.
