Psych is like The Mentalist

In this USA Network "Character Clip", see a preview of Shawn and Gus describing themselves and what they do. It's like The Mentalist except that guy's a fake.

UPDATED: People seem to be under the impression that I'm saying that Psych is a ripoff of The Mentalist. This is not the case. The title of this video is a description of what's in the video: namely, Shawn Spencer says that what he does is like what's shown on The Mentalist. Obviously, since Psych started before The Mentalist, the former couldn't rip off the latter.

Totally ticks me off that the mentalist gets all the glory when Psych is the real winner! And the mentalist takes ideas from psych anyway, psych had an episode where their was a fear of a virus outbreak and then the mentalist did one like six months later. Not to mention the mentalist did a trilogy just like psych with the seriel killer. Don't get me wrong I like Simon Baker and he's a great actor, but James deserves an award too, he's awesome.

screw it...i enjoy both shows. the two distinct differences being;

-Shawn says he's a psychic/Jane says there's no such thing

-Shawn does it for fun/Jane is after Red John

also, psych is leaning a bit more to the comedy side.

I don't watch the Mentalist so I can't say whether I think it's like Psych or not. However, what I CAN say is this clip is a hilariously clever, yet largely polite poke at the Mentalist!

@4494mac James Roday and Dule Hill, the two guys that portray the two main characters in Psych actually have a big hand in the show. They have been credited as producers on the show for a long time now.

@CaliforniaBlondes16 James Roday is one of the most underrated and unknown actors He definitely deserves awards! He's SO expressive with his face. It takes real talent to be able to convey that much emotion when acting.

I honestly can't stand the Mentalist. It is a blatant ripoff of Psych, and continues to show it. I just copied all these images into a collage to prove it to a friend I'm arguing with over which is better:)

Personally, I like both. Psych is great for the comedy, and Mentalist is great for the more serious, drama stuff.
