Whatever the shortcomings of the Cultural Revolution, it checked Party corruption that destroyed the integrity of the KMT. The KMT started off with zealous patriots. But it was infiltrated by gangsters and party discipline was lost. Idealism was buried. Only pursuit of money and power mattered.

While a whole generation of young men lost out on technical education, after the storm, rampant corruption did not rear its ugly head for some ten years.

Without vision, a people would perish. So beware
