Thousands Rally At Statehouse During Kasich's State of the State Address: The Statehouse West Lawn was filled again Tuesday with thousands of workers, students, faith leaders and community members to protest Senate Bill 5 and Gov. Kasich's anti-worker agenda. The rally was timed right before Kasich delivered his first State of the State Address. Over two thousand firefighters joined the rally after a march from the Franklin County Veterans Memorial to the West Lawn. A strong showing of workers, both from the public and private sector, attended the rally, including AFSCME Ohio Council 8, CWA, IAFF, IBEW, IUPAT, OEA, OFT, OAPSE/AFSCME, OCSEA/AFSCME Local 11, SEIU, the Teamsters, TWU, UFCW, USW, and Working America.

"This is about power," said International Association of Fire Fighters General President Harold Schaitberger, who worked 11 years as a firefighter in Fairfax, VA and came to Ohio to show his support for Ohio's middle class. "The same people that say they want small government are trying to control the government and cut you out. They want to take your rights away. They want to take our ability to provide safety in our communities away."
