did it occur to anyone that the child may have been mudered becuase of financial difficulties? im sure cancer treatment in the u.s. isnt cheap . i mean , if i lived there.. and medical wasnt free, id prob have rotted to death by now. if the mother actually cared for her child, she would have just moved her to canada! free medical rules. i feel sad for you americans. sad, sad sad sad

@LDB37 Zahra was in remission and wasn't receiving any cancer treatments in the USA. Elisa is not Zahra's mother; she is Zahra's step-mother. The step-mother has no right to move Zahra anywhere. IF anything, Adam, Zahra's father could have just taken Zahra back to Australia for free medical care as Adam and Zahra are Australian citizens.

And as a member of that subculture myself, I am ashamed to see someone promote the stereotype that goths/freaks/punks are bad people. I'm what you would call gothic, and I've never committed a crime in my life. Nor would I EVER think of laying a finger on a child in anger. The idea makes me wretch. And yet here's a prime example of the media breeding more fear and hate in this country by implying that a blanket statement like "gothic=psycho killer" is appropriate.

I have zero doubt in my mind that the Bakers are responsible for the horrible string of events involving poor Zahra. Nor do I have any desire whatsoever to take any defensive stance for them. However, what's really upsetting is watching someone be vilified on the grounds that they're part of a particular subculture. Elisa Baker is just a psychopath, plain and simple. The fact that she's part of a gothic subculture should have nothing to do with it.
