Read Chris Hedges' book 'American Fascists: The Christian Right and the War on America' (Free Press 2006) for insight into this cult. Many of the signs of fascism -- as defined by serious scholars of the political ideology -- are present in right-wing Christian groups: extreme nationalism, militarism, scapegoating of vulnerable segments of the population, obsession with national security, corporate power protected & labor suppressed, disdain for intellectuals, etc.
