Ladislaw Starewicz's "The Mascot" from 1933, re-edited to modern music. (dedicated to Ladislaw, with the intention to entertain, and not to insult or degrade the original footage).
Don't bother commenting about the original score, do a search for "Ladislaw Starewicz"
"the Mascot" or "Devil's Ball"

  • This is amazing. I had no idea that this director existed. I think you did this piece justice by remixing it, because if you hadn't put it on YouTube I would have never heard of it. PRAWPS GUY!

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wouldn't use the word justice. But the idea was to make something that's already amazing, more palatable to modern viewers. (I did do some minor editing to the picture as well). I was getting discouraged by all the other comments. You should search for the orginal, and other original shorts from Ladislaw. Thanks again

  • the modern score sucks..end of story. Thanks for the post but it violates the artist's original work.

  • anybody know what the apache (thug) character is pulling out of the monkey's throat (it looks like a washer or a coin?) ? ? ? ? ? ?

  • The original score was a masterpiece created by real musicians for the film. When an original work of art is timeless, it is just that. Another words, leave it alone!

  • modern audiences are idiots...and Burton is but a pimple on the ass of these Polish,Russian,Chzec animators. America needs to awaken to this stuff, just as we have with Japanese anime.

  • Great stuff, from 1933; same year as KING KONG ironically. Much more heart and soul than today's inhuman CGI.

  • I must not be a modern viewer --the ORIGINAL soundtrack please!!

  • The first time I saw this short, I instantly knew where Tim Burton got the idea for "The Nightmare Before Christmas " from.

  • :-(

  • The devil is bigger!:-)

  • I've posted the entire original film, in three parts.
