FOLIO's Chris Willshire is an official Test Pilot for the new bass amp, the RH450, and cabinets, the RS210 and RS212, by TC Electronic. Watch and listen as he compares this new system with other bass amps and speakers.

Part 2--the RS210/212 cabinet configuration with the RH450 vs a Gallien Krueger 400 RBIII, and an Ampeg SVT-II amplifier.

*Unfortunately, I didn't have ability to plug a good mic into my camcorder, so all I have
on this video is the built-in camera mic. I think this comparison still serves it purpose, but
the differences I describe were much more noticeable to my ear when I was playing than
what ultimately comes across on the video. There were definitely some very noticeable differences though when comparing some of these models!
I also use a Sansamp RBI by Tech21 as part of my setup. It is connected pre-RH450, so it
sweetens and fattens the tone before sending it to the RH. However, for test purposes, I did not use it for this video.

Hopefully these notes will help when the differences aren't as obvious when watching this video.

  • this would be a better demostration with a better bass player.

  • man, why is it so bright?! is it those speakers? dont know too much about them, that's why i'm asking..

not a fan of that TC head. sounds really constrained to me. the GK sounds the most open, and the brighter sound would be far more versatile cause you can easily darken it up if you wish; you can't properly brighten up a dark head without losing all the low end.

i'm currently in the market for a new amp, and i'm currently thinking of a GK400 head with an eden 112/210 cab. opinions please? thx

  • A lot of money on equipment.. so little effort on playing something that worths it.. life is so unfair.

  • He learned that riff overnight and figured himself a bass player in the morning.

  • Bet this guy is a guitar player trying to play bass.

  • i hope TC elctronics have changed this endorser. this guy is deaf

  • I am not convinced by the TC Amp at all Ampeg and the Gallien Krueger sounded a lot better by far.

  • Guys I just found out that this guy is 6' 8inches tall....this must be the biggest jazz bass in the world...48inch neck!!!!

  • sorry bro, your playing has no soul and flat so thats why it sounds flat no matter what you play thru...oh and by the way get rid of that rat nest with the skunk streak off your head maybe us real bass players would listen to what you have to say...

  • @seanevans1992 this video is terrible, the TC head/cab rocks.

  • This guy says he likes the tc head by far??...of course hes getting paid to say that...funny thing is even though this guy is trying to say and make the tc sound better the gk to me sounds alot better...and that extra high end from the gk will help the bass player CUT through the mix as appose to the tc which will help you SIT in the mix....I rather hear my self when im live then blend in with the drummer and have to keep turning myself up live and screw the sound for the band..

  • First would be Ampeg, then Gk and far behind Tc...Price Ampeg $2,000, Gk $250, Tc $600....No brainer....GK for $250...come on guys...You can get a Gk and a 4/10 cab for $700...thats about a third of the Ampeg head alone, and about the price of the TC(shitty sound) head....Come on guys post replys to THIS!!
