**WATCH IN HIGH QUALITY!**
With its presence audible for miles, NS manifest freight 10N rounds the curve east from Cassandra and pounds up the No. 1 Track with a helper ahead and behind, with both sets notched to perfection! Upon request, this clip of one of the best trains on the line was dedicated to my buddy Marc Lingenfelter, who gave me heads ups like it was nobodys business that weekend, 6 hours away in NY. My attempts to yell the dedication are audible on the rear helpers approach, but I think its VERY clear that 6,000 horsepower shoving an extremely heavy manifest up the 1% notched all the way up can EASILY drown out the human voiceand it couldnt be better any other way. Shot on 10/12/08 at MP 254.7 on Norfolk Southerns Pittsburgh Line at Lilly, PA.

  • If i go deaf today, and the sound of those emds is the last thing i hear, i'd be happy. And if you don't agree? You can pretty much go to hell.. ;)

  • Sah-weeet! SD40-2 heaven, I hope I can get back there soon. Personally, I like Sand Patch better than the slopes, but I like NS better than CSX, so I always have to visit both when I go out, LOL!

  • Sounded like the last two of the front engines weren't running.

  • @TheRobCicero youre right all i can hear from my house are the GE AC4400s the CP has and the SD40's of the CP and the Reading and northern and also sd50's 60's and rarely 70's

  • The 2 lead SD40's sound amazing as USUAL! I think the 3rd unit is under power as well but the rest are off line. Nothing beats the sound of 2nd generation E645 prime movers... The new stuff I don't even listen too, because I can't hear them anyway

  • Were the last two units in the front DIT?

  • NS, truly the best run railroad of the big class 1's...at least that;'s what almost all industry observers say. They do a great job.

  • @meccaturbo No, I'm not AliceInChains243, I think you have me confused with someone else

  • @NS9710 Not true. You said the other NS lines besides the ex PRR were "conservative", and this is not true. I responded to your comment. So no, I did not start it.

  • @meccaturbo you started it.

  • @NS9710 Calm down, dude.

  • @meccaturbo you have to remember, this kid lives in CT, its another 6-8 hrs probably for him to go to the N&W which him working @ McDonald's probably won't allow him, and he's influenced and partial to the Conrail way of doing things, this is personal prefrence, leave the kid be, come on man.
