This eastbound Canadian Pacific freight is in trouble. Shot on the climb to Gould Summit in Quebec, in early 1988, we see how the failure of one locomotive can bring a train to it's knees. Just listen to the big MLW's as they stay in "run eight" and watch the "help desk" of yesteryear get the ailing locomotive on the ball again. But, it's too little, too late.

  • Amazing video. Thumbs up!

Did the train made it over the summit?

  • Buy my video, "Montreal's Machine's, Last Stand of the 251", and you will see!......;)

  • You cannot ignore the alarm bell forever. LOL.

  • Are you SURE that wasn't an old steamer behind you! ;)

Apparently a while back one of the diesels broke down on a UP freight in Cheyenne, and instead of using a diesel helper on the rear, they sent out 3985 (the Challenger), and the diesel engineer didn't realize the difference until they arrived at their destination. He must have been asleep in the cab not to notice the chuffing and smoke.

  • Love how the start bell is the same as a GE Dash 9 or GEVO now.

  • Great 251 action..miss those old alco-mlw's....

  • That is great alco-mlw action....thanks for posting

  • Yeah....leave all the doors open; that'll fix EVERYTHING! LMAO At least he got it online again.

  • Canadian Pacific Failway. :-P JK Alco's FTW!

  • I think both the new CADILACS and ALCOS should lead that train.

  • This train should be headed by new "CADILACS" not old shit box maintenance neglected alco's. From the look of this video those alco's look like they are heading for the scrap yard.
