I have never "blogged" or created a username to leave a message on any sight but HAD to after watching so many Catahoula YouTube video's! What an amazing breed! Uber intelligent, intense without being aggressive, gentle with small dogs and children and a joy to teach! Absolutely the smartest dog I've ever owned. Would love to start with a puppy when the time is right. My Cat is named Dingo:)

seeing your dog makes me question whether my dog really is a catahoula mix or a purebred. I didn't know they had the blockiness of the head. Jasper is mixed with pitbull. Very beautiful dog.

No, in Holland is no need to hunt. There is very few wildlife and when their numbers are getting to large, only specialized hunters shoot them, but they use other hunting dogs, it is not allowed to use a pack of dogs to chase the wild. The wildlife is very protected, in the area where i was with him it is not even allowed to let the dogs walk without a leash (of course i take my chances and let him loose).

Nou ja, agressief zijn ze niet per definitie, maar het zijn wel honden die heel veel leiding en consequentie nodig hebben. Je moet je echt goed kunnen verplaatsen in hondentaal en de roedelleider zijn anders kunnen het wel agressieve honden worden. Zelfstandig zijn ze zeker, maar als je een goede leider bent willen ze alles voor je doen en heb je er enorm veel contact mee. Dus niet zelfstandig als in niet-aanhankelijk.

Thank you. I live in the Netherlands and there are few breeders, i believe one now...i knew the breed only from the internet and when i saw there was a puppie for sale, i just could not rescist.

Well, i did know that they were desended, but i did not know that DNA tests showed it. I am from Holland, the parents of Blue are imported from USA. I have a website where i described the breed Catahoula's. It's in Dutch...
