The Walrus is one of my favorite characters in this, mainly because he seems to be the most intelligent. Only a genius can carry on an imaginary friend to such depths.

Sometimes when I'm not viewing this show as the magical imaginings of a creative young girl, I like to interpret it as the shattered delusions of a lonely preteen slowly loosing her mind. Just to mix it up a bit. The former is definitely more fun, but sometimes I have to stretch my imagination a little! It needs the exercise!

Your second intuition may be more dead on than you think especially if you carefully watch the scenes where Alice is talking to her cat. I swear, if she's not careful she'll turn into Crazy Cat Lady from The Simpsons!
