  • Ronnie Ross does play the baritone elsewhere on this gig. A lot of baritone and alto players double up as they're both Eb instruments (unlike the tenor and soprano in Bb).

  • Glorious version. More of these if you have them. Is this from 1960? 1961?

  • 1965.

  • @stillavril He's so deep in the grove, it's amazing. I gotta listen to more of his drumming, it's fantastic.

  • @pixaninny Do you have a decent recording of the 'Mexican Green' album to up-load? Mine's a cassette tape, about thirty years old so not really good enough.

  • drwinkle101, You are very biased and rather blind. The best of British musicians were in thrall to their own great talent, not teeny boppers. They were out-numbered by the sheer amount of players in the States, that's all. Our best were in the big league, make no mistake.

  • @Drblooter99

Yeah but he packed a lot more into his life than we ever will in ours.

  • @Drblooter99 i know...such a pitty

  • How can a guy be so smart at music, and so fucked at the rest of his life?

Oh well, he wasn't the first.

    Nor was Charlie Parker.

  • I've no tubby Hayes in my collection, I now don't know why!

  • Sure, not really innovative. Not an American piece, though.

I can think of worse things to be in thrall to!

  • @TSSC1030

Yes I heard that, and, as I said, just because some Brits were virtuosic players doesn't mean they were innovative.
