"Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord. O Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy--Psalm 130.

This video is dedicated to IDF Cpl. Gilad Shalit who was kidnapped in June 2006; a teenager at just 19 years old but a courageous soldier. G-d only knows how he has managed to stay alive.

May Hashem hear his voice from Jerusalem, the perfection of beauty and grant him mercy and freedom soon.

Music: Shir Hamalos sung by Yacov Young. Composed by Yitzchok Rosenthal

The art work at the start of the video was drawn by Gilad Shalit when he was 10 years old for his story about a shark and a fish becoming friends.

tears your heart apart, doesn't it? Sobering to think about the fate of Israeli children who are taught that fish and sharks can become friends, to trust what is most dangerous and deadly.

I just love this song, it's my favorite on the CD, and one of my favorite songs by any Jewish artist.

  • Thank you JWalk:)

I believe Shomra is a gorgeous song, I only wish I knew all of the lyrics so I can make a video of it, If you can provide a brief general description of shomra I'd really appreciate it,

If you're the same JWalk from J Chat...good to see you again:)

  • Wow this is really beautiful

  • @mlk612 Thank you.

  • Yacov Young does indeed touch one's soul on a very deep level. That's what I meant when I wrote before about him being a male Ofra Haza.

The only reason I can think of for why he's not more popular is that he only came out with one CD so far in 2006. He's a relatively new artist.

I hope and pray he releases another CD.

I'm suprised more of his songs aren't on You Tube and that his record label hasn't made professional videos of his music.

  • Amen!

  • Shalsheles sang this song on their 4th album (since it was composed by Yitzchok Rosenthal). This version is very nice, but I personally prefer the harmonies on Shalsheles. My favorite song on Yogati is probably Shomra (Featurting child soloist Avi Mehl.

  • May God save him, keep him from harm and bring him soon back to his family and his beloved!

  • i do not want to sound like a gay homo or anything, but this guy really does have a beautiful voice that touches one's soul on a very deep level. i still wonder why he is not better known in the Jewish world

  • May God bless him and may he be reunited with his family and the rest of the Jewish people soon!
