Hit the HQ button on the player. MT. Washington, Tuckerman Ravine, NH April 17, 2009 by Northeast Surfing.com. Cousins Ronnie Lees, Chris Lees. This video was taken leaving Boston and heading to mountain Washington, NH. We arrived and hiked up the tuckerman ravine trail. The hike to the base of the bowl was 3.1 miles 4,430 elevation leaving from Pinkham Notch. Then after lunch we took the trail above Lunch Rocks. The pitch on the climb up had to be in the 50's (degree of slop) it was like climbing up a snow ladder, using your hands to grip the snow.

On the ski down there were people frozen and did not want to ski down. One guy was trying to slid down the head wall on his side. This video can't really show you how steep the climb up the head wall, and the ski down, is. Just watch how people are bent over using their hands. On the ski down every turn I made I got air, and I was moving really fast.

  • Sorry we did not shoot a film this year 2011, we had a lot going on, but next season we will have a bunch of HD cams looking forward to it, going to be sick.

  • That looks like a fun trip. Is there any camping area near the headwall?

  • @sireduardo420 no but down by the shelter there is an area for tents. You cant tent above the tree line.

  • When the weather is good there is lots of people. From late winter to almost summer time.

  • Looks like you guys had a blast out there. How come the state does not install a Gondola or something and charge $10 a pop? I am a Tahoe skiier, so excuse my ignorance, but do you ever get pow days out there to where you could actually jump off some of those cliffs?

  • People would be upset, it is all about the climb into back country that makes people hit it. The rush from the climb up and over the headwall is something to remember. Yes they get deep snow early season and it is sick, just beware of avalanches.

  • i like your ideals. its not about doing, its about the spiritual journey. very cool. i agree with that completely, and have a similar philosophy with hiking and everything i do.... ill be at tuckermans next week and im so pumped.

  • When you learn how to ski about same time that you learn how to walk. Then you ski about 50 days a season as a kid, and 70 days as an adult. Over time, learning how to ski all over again, would be like most learning how to walk again. Plus nothing wrong with kicking it old school.

  • Beautiful video. Awesome. Love Mt. Washington.

  • tucks is looking great right now, come on thursday and see shredderfrank huck his meat

  • @MeursaultBandini Pretty much especially in March/April. In the winter months it is normally very windy and extremely cold especially, hiking up the headwall. The avalanche danger also is much higher when there is more fresh snow. Actually looking at that video, again, I've seen it much more crowded than that, sometimes there is literally a line of people hiking up the headwall.

  • Are people out in these numbers every weekend?

  • Great video, reminds me of growing up in NH riding Tuck's every spring. Nothing like it.

  • @northeastsurfing im quite aware...ive been there..
