Andy Whitfield died today in Sydney, Australia. He was 39. He played Spartacus in the Starz cable series "Spartacus: Blood and Sand."
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Andy Whitfield," Starz President and CEO Chris Albrecht said in a statement Sunday night. "We were fortunate to have worked with Andy in `Spartacus' and came to know that the man who played a champion on-screen was also a champion in his own life."
Whitfield's wife issued a statement, saying her husband died on a "sunny Sydney morning" in the "arms of his loving wife."

RIP Andy. You know even though he had a terrible cancer, i truely hoped he would pull through and be one of those miracles in life. I don't think i can watch the new episodes of Sparticus.

@berto13579 yeah i know it man, i read 2 books about the history of spartaco. this is a movie in the 2010, it must be "little changed" from the true story. but the message inside is the same, a man become a slave fights for freedom and to find what he has lost. fighting until the end, like Andy has done. RIP Andy.
