Shut Down by The Beach Boys

Lyrics-
Tach it up
tach it up
Buddy gonna shut you down

It happened on the strip where the road is wide
(Oooo rev it up now)
Two cool shorts standin' side by side
(Oooo rev it up now)
Yeah
my fuel injected Stingray and a four-thirteen
(Oooo rev it up now)
Revvin' up our engines and it sounds real mean
(Oooo rev it up now)

Tach it up
tach it up

Buddy gonna shut you down

Declinin' numbers at an even rate
(Oooo movin' out now)
At the count of one we both accelerate
(Oooo movin' out now)
My Stingray is light the slicks are startin' to spin
(Oooo movin' out now)
But the four-thirteen's really diggin' in
(Oooo movin' out now)

Gotta be cool now power shift here we go

Superstock Dodge is windin' out in low

But my fuel injected Stingray's really startin' to go
To get the traction I'm ridin' the clutch
My pressure plate's burnin' that machines too much

Pedal's to the floor hear the dual quads drink
(Oooo pump it up now)
And now the four-thirteen's lead is startin' to shrink
(Oooo pump it up now)
He's hot with ram induction but it's understood
(Oooo pump it up now)
I got a fuel injected engine sittin' under my hood
(Oooo pump it up now)

Shut it off
shut it off buddy now I shut you down
Shut it off
shut it off buddy now I shut you down
Shut it off
shut it off buddy now I shut you down
Shut it off
shut it off buddy now I shut you down
Shut it off
shut it off buddy now I shut you down

No need to spend 6 figures on something fast and quiet. When I was 18 I spent $600 at an auction and bought a 78 Plymouth fury ex-state police pursuit vehicle. The only noise that car made was when the 4bbl opened and It was an HONEST 165 mph car (I still have the speeding ticket framed to prove it). Plus there was room for 6 to ride and had enough ground clearance to handle some of the biggest frost heaves and potholes

    around.

devoured once again by spinoff industry. No programmer is done until he replaces himself.

I believe you, my Dart 340 could hit 140. Mopar was mighty back in those days

As for the Hemi they were by then two generations up on the 409. However, that first year they ran mostly in the 11: 60's and 70's. Not at all out of reach for the Z11's. I ran and beat three Hemi's back in late '64 with my car in B/FX configuration, that is to say 409 with the Aluminum Front End and Z11 Heads and manifold. I wasn't the only one. Nicholson still had his '62 409 w/Aluminum Front End and Z11 parts and with Eddie driving was right at the 11:60 mark with that car.

I raced in the Super Stock wars in the early '60's. I had a '63 409 with Aluminum Front end and Z-11 heads and manifold. Once I got the car setup I had no trouble with ANY of the Max Wedge cars. If you consider the Mopar's compared to the 409's you'll see what an advantage they had. 600Lbs lighter (which means they could add ballast) and a shorter wheelbase. But the 409 was the better engine. It was all about traction back then, once you got that down. It was all over for the Mopar's.

Nowadays electrics have better 0 to 60 than a Koenigsseg on 102 octane swift fuel. They have a 195 mph computer restrictor in "economy mode". NEDRA is upstaging the AHRA.

Don't matter. Their loss. Fire and pistons are still more fun and intuitive to work on.
