I had the honor of seeing them perform this live in 1994. Amazing doesn't even begin to describe it. When you listen to Adventures in Afropea Vol. 1, you'd think they had to use vocal layering in the studio to get all that sound out of just five women, but when you see them live you realize that they are just extremely clever with covering their vocal lines. The entire night's performance cast a spell that lingers with me to this day.
