It is going to take people to actually care for one another. That doesn't seem to be in anyones soul right now. I'm trying to change the world with kindness, love and understanding. Mean people suck. Be good to a stanger and see how you feel afterwards. LOVE... don't HATE.

The only two events powerful enough to change all of mankind would be the second coming of Jesus, or intelligent contact from another world in the universe.
That whole 'first contact' thing in Star Trek was no joke, humanity would change for the better of an intelligent alien world contacted us. We'd have to be on our best behavior. :)
And Jesus coming back? That would prove religion correct, and we'd be at peace for about 2000 years before forgetting about it again.

The only thing that will bring peace is a sudden, instantaneous shift in the hearts of a majority of mankind. It could happen. It will not be a gift bestowed by any politician or religious leader.
