Black Jacobins Live - 10/21/2011
Professor A.L.I. performs this piece live as a guest poet in a Poetry Course at an elite college preparatory school in the Bay Area. 'Black Jacobins' is part of a larger piece with the same title released as a song featuring Tyson Amir on the critically acclaimed Carbon Cycle Diaries in 2011. It is dedicated to the French Muslim, Sikh, and Jewish citizenry who have had their right to freedom of religion violated due to religious head covering bans and growing Islamophobia in Europe. The piece takes its title from C.L.R. James' seminal work "Black Jacobins" about the Haitian Revolution.
Black Jacobins is available for download on iTunes and on www.professorali.com. The entire 'Carbon Cycle Diaries' album is available as well.
Professor A.L.I.'s latest project the 'Emerald Manifesto' releases in 2012. Stay tuned.
