The real reason this doesn't make the evening news is because the media is controlled and they don't want us to know the real truths.

SpaceX is now underway, as robotguy said it would be. My first thought at the news reports was - whose interests are being served when an international space program is suddenly privatized? If space exploration was truly an international pursuit, which it should be, & if it is in the interest of all humanity, then private industry cannot possibly represent that! It doesn't make sense for the US to drop this, it only make sense to expand it & continue to involve the cooperation of other nations.

But cities need sports stadiums where else will FEMA keep the slaves

Competitive edge in science and tech? When did USA ever have an edge in that?

Bill please never stop spreading this message about the international banking cartel and how they're enslaving the world with their debt based currencies. I first heard of the Money Masters from a friend and downloaded it from The Pirate Bay. I was so impressed I bought the DVD and your new book for $40. You're awesome and I love how you get right to the root of the problem in such a clear direct way without beating around the bush.
One aircraft carrier costs $4 billion, one submarine costs $1.8 billion, one stealth bomber is $1.5 billion, the Pentagon's budget is over $700 billion, the foriegn wars are well over $1 trillion, the cost of the space shuttles is puny by comparison, but everything goes to Wall Street and the military.

Manned space will not end. And it will not have to rely on Russia or China. The nature of NASA is not what you think it is.
Private industry is ready to take over the relatively mundane task of getting men to and from orbit. The Russian government hires a private company to launch the Soyuz. United Launch Alliance operates the Shuttle, not NASA.
Perhaps the biggest misconception: the Ares 1/ Ares 5 implementation is not the Constellation program. (continued)

@robotguy This is all interesting, but again, I'm suspicious. Why does a guy who wants to nationalize EVERYTHING suddenly wants to privatize something that has been good for America and the world?

@bstill3 Your kiding right. Because it makes too much sense. Why would nasas spend 1 bil on a rocket when it can be done by outside contractor for 100 mil. I'm pretty conservative but that's the whole wonder of the free market

@MikDonsen -- numbers are easily exaggerated in order to win contracts. Once the NASA manned-space program is dead and it's engineering talent dispersed, don't you think the price may rise?
